3.  Important Information on Installation and Commissioning

For all of the MarWin measuring machines, the control software version is installed automatically when installing this MarWin version.

Please note:
In case of the following machines, either the control EEPROM or EPROM must be exchanged (if not already done so), or the control versions stated must be installed.
This work is done on site by Mahr service personnel.

Probe protection for MarForm MMQ 400, MMQ 44 and MMQ 34

In case the probe protection (TSK) is triggered, make sure to press the TSK button on the MMQ keypad. It may well be that the pilot lamp above the TSK button of the MMQ keypad ceases to light up even though the probe protection is still triggered. To ensure operational readiness, press the TSK button several times if necessary and stop pressing the button only after the icon indicating a triggered probe protection ceases to light up in the "Measuring station" view.

Upgrading MarForm MMQ 400, MMQ 44 and MMQ 34 to MarWin v14.50

If it is not possible to establish a machine connection:

The following steps have to be carried out following installation
(not to be carried out when updating an already existing version):

  1. Plug the Mahr License Key(s) (if available) into an unused USB interface.
Wait until it is (they are) identified as USB drive(s).
  2. Perform the configuration of the MarWin measuring station.
  3.
  4. Apply the factory calibration.

4.  Licensing

The software must be licensed. In the conditions of use it is stated that the purchase of one software license entitles you to use the MarWin software on one PC only.

On starting unlicensed MarWin software a dialog box referring to the conditions of use will be displayed. The dialog box shows the number of days until the provisional license expires. The period is 30 days from the date the software is first launched.

Each measuring computer is delivered with a Mahr License Key (MLK) containing the basic licenses for the software. Single software options may be delivered on a separate MLK or as additional license files for your existing MLK (see License management).

All of the required Mahr License Keys must be plugged into unused USB interfaces. At runtime of the MarWin software, the existence of the licenses is checked both on the Mahr License Key(s) and in the license folder of the software. During the session, the Mahr License Keys must remain connected to the USB interfaces.

Please ask your Mahr sales partner about additional options and licenses currently available that best suit your needs.

6.  Tips and Tricks

Data backup and restore

We recommend to back up the data of each MarWin measuring station at regular intervals!

During a backup, the data specified in a backup script are all saved to a ZIP file.
The "Backup & Restore" tool (see below) can be used to restore data that have previously been backed up in a ZIP file.

Caution!
As machine data is also backed up, the machine must be ready for operation during the data backup.
The MarWin software does not have to be closed. You should, however, make sure that no measuring program is running as machine communication is mandatory for data backup.
